Audience:
New comers to the world of genealogical research of all ages
My role:
I researched, took screen shots, scripted, and developed this course using Articulate Rise.
Goal:
Family History Research is a growing field, and one which engages people of all ages. But rather than create a dry "how-to" Rise course, my goal was to hook the learner right from the start in the same way that "click-bait" articles hook you. So I purposely chose to make this a microlearning experience, and left off the learning objective, and agenda navigation which is typical of Rise courses. I wanted people to click through it and engage their curiosity in such a way that they would want to keep going and find out more.
This is meant to be an introductory course into Family History research, with enough detailed information and links they can explore to whet their appetite and keep them coming back for more.
Although the introduction mentions several family history websites which can be explored, this learning module concentrates on helping the user explore Familysearch.org, because it is free and it connects to many other resources which are available.
Although the screenshots of data from within the site were taken from an account I set up for a friend, I have also included embedded videos which were created by familysearch.org
